The UN and GRI Working TogetherWritten by Jon Templeman Thursday, 17 June 2010 00:00 The United Nations Global Compact and the Global Reporting Initiative, two of the most important business sustainability intiatives, have announced that they have reached an agreement to align their work. Under the new agreement, the GRI will incorporate the Compact's ten principles and issue areas into the next version of its Sustainability Reporting Guidelines. In turn, the Compact will adopt the GRI's Guidelines as the recommended reporting framework for its members. The new product – yet to be named – will be one of the few company-level sustainability standards available, and, its designers claim, the first that is 'comprehensive in scope, global in application, and verifiable by trained, accredited third parties'.
